Welcome

Yesterday Microsoft dropped the first release of IronRuby, an implementation of Ruby targeted at the Dynamic Language Runtime (DLR), a new addition to .net coming to a framework near you soon. This is very exciting news! Many developers have been learning about Ruby for a while now, and really enjoying what they see. To know we’ll soon be able to write Ruby to target our favorite runtime is just fantastic. Our goal here at rubydoes.net is to provide .net developers with a one stop shop for everything about our favorite duck typed language on our favorite statically typed runtime.

To start, here are some quotes collected from yesterdays posts from John Lam and Scott Guthrie.

Guys, Please don’t take this the wrong way, but… I love you. :) -Scott

I am sure IronRuby will be the most hot topic discussion at Oscon.

Congrats on the release, John! Very nice. I guess I’ll have to play with it in my Windows Parallels.

Congratulations, John (and team)! The Ruby community is going to look back on this years from now as a very important and positive milestone. - Chad Fowler

IronRuby and DRL are simply amazing stuff :) I love it!!!

Open it - look at it. It is very well written - a work I would be proud of - really.

Needless to say, we are excited to spread the word for ruby and .net, and already in deep thought in the numerous directions we can go here.
